Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino to open late 2013
The City of Las Vegas Redevelopment Agency has announced that Fifth Street Gaming’s Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino will launch in late 2013. The hotel is the former Lady Luck Hotel & Casino which was closed in 2006 and has undergone over $100 million in renovations.
The Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino will consist of 300,000 square feet made up of two hotel towers with 650 rooms, 15,000 square feet of new meeting space and a 35,000 square foot rooftop pool and dining venues. Fifth Street Gaming has projected that the project will bring 600 permanent jobs to the Downtown Las Vegas area and 500 temporary construction jobs.
Here is an excerpt from the Fifth St Gaming website regarding the project:
The Downtown Grand Casino & Hotel will invite gamblers to try their luck on any of 30 classic table games or 700 state-of-the-art slot machines in our 35,000 square foot casino. Thirsty guests can raise a glass at any of eight bars and lounges, while 11 restaurants are sure to please every palate.
The 650 guestrooms at the Downtown Grand will set Downtown Las Vegas’ new standard for luxury, sophistication and style, making an inviting destination for high-rolling gamblers as well as Las Vegas visitors who value service and comfort even more than a hot slot machine.
The Downtown Grand is part of an emerging new center of urban cool and innovation that includes World Market Center, Symphony Park, the Smith Center for the Performing Arts, the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, the new headquarters of Internet retail giant Zappos and of course the burgeoning 18b Arts District, home to the monthly First Friday art festival.
The Downtown Hotel & Casino, along with the Mob Museum will serve anchors for Downtown3rd, a five block planned development that is proposed to include 18 restaurants and bars and also provide outdoor space for special events.
The Downtown Grand Hotel is long awaited and will surely add class and excitement to the revitalization efforts of the downtown Las Vegas area.
